In October of 2017, my community of Santa Rosa, California was hit with a devastating wildfire. The Tubbs fire, as it was called, blew like a fire-hurricane and destroyed more than 6,000 homes and businesses. One building that was lost was the beloved "Round Barn"--a historical landmark on the hills overlooking the northern end of Santa Rosa.
My street was spared but the surrounding neighborhood was not so fortunate and many, many homes surrounding mine were lost. I returned to my home after a 10-day evacuation, not knowing how to channel my grief. Eventually, I created this piece with the intention of using it for our family Christmas card. After encouragement from friends and family, I reached out to the Charles M. Schulz Organization to get permission to sell the prints to raise funds for fire relief. At $20 per 11x14 print, I have raised nearly $50,000 for Sonoma County Fire Relief. All proceeds go the the Community Foundation of Sonoma County.
